Recently, Shanghai MicroPort EP MedTech Co., Ltd. (referred to as "MicroPort EP") introduced an innovative automated mapping software module for its Columbus™ 3D EP Navigation System (Columbus™). By leveraging parameters such as electrocardiogram and conduction stability, the software automatically filters out non-clinical ectopic beats based on ECG changes, enabling the accurate identification of clinical PACs and the efficient mapping of the earliest activation points.
The module recently achieved an milestone with its first application in Thailand. Dr. Voravut and his team at Sakonnakhon Hospital successfully performed an atrial fibrillation ablation procedure utilizing the module along with the EasyStars™ 3D High Density Mapping Catheter (EasyStars™).
During the procedure, Dr. Voravut utilized the EasyStars™ to model the left atrium and accurately construct its three-dimensional structure during the procedure. The physician noted that the catheter demonstrated excellent mapping performance, enabling rapid modeling that laid a solid foundation for subsequent pulmonary vein isolation. Additionally, Dr. Voravut utilized the Columbus™ automated mapping software module to precisely map frequent premature atrial contractions (PACs) observed during the procedure. The module automatically filtered clinically irrelevant beats by adjusting various conditions, such as catheter position changes and electrocardiogram waveform patterns, achieving both high efficiency and precision. Subsequently, Dr. Voravut and his team successfully performed two more tachyarrhythmia ablation procedures using this software module.
Dr. Voravut commented that PAC mapping poses a significant challenge during ablation, but this software module delivered impressive efficiency and precision throughout the procedure.
